Where I am interested in Working
The first place that I
researched was employment through the UN jobs site. The position is through Save the Children and
it is part of the International Program Department of Education and Child
Development. I would provide tech support and contribute to program development
and focus on proposals and public donations.
This is the website http://unjobs.org/vacancies/1384818211569
I would need a Masters in
Child Development and the ability to travel
The next position I found was
through Association Childhood Education International. The position would be
for me to identify grant opportunities, develop these grants for projects and
work with the executive director
This is the site where I
found the opportunity

This is their website
For me to qualify for this
job I would need 3-5 years in grant writing and a Masters. I need to work on the
grant writing part.
I think that I would also
like to work for ICF International. They are located in Pennsylvania which is
fairly close to me. I would be an early childhood specialist supporting
HeadStart Programs and support the school readiness goals. This also sounds
like an opportunity that would fit. I would need a BA in Early Childhood and
experience in the field

Jennifer,
First, I absolutely agree with the picture you posted! Just because we are teaching early childhood does not mean a child does not deserve the very best teacher they can get! Thank you for that reminder!
I, too enjoyed the Save the Children website. Their mission is honorable and ultimately, the child is the center of their entire vision.
The jobs you listed would be great; however, as much as I would enjoy the international positions, I could not travel. Hopefully, one day (when my daughter is out of college!) I can do something internationally. I have always wanted to do teach African children in high poverty areas. Should I ever be given that opportunity, I have so many resources available to help me be successful.
You also mentioned the position in Pennsylvania. I think that would be a great position because you are overseeing much, but you would still be able to work with international contacts!
Good luck!!
Susan
Jennifer,
I love your pic on this blog. Soooo true! I really did not look into UN jobs. I love the military childcare program and I am looking to someday go overseas with the Marine Corps. I am so hesitant to go outside of the military because of the different private sector regulations that I am not familiar with. I will now look into UN jobs now that I have read your blog! Thank you!
